Top Five Superhero Movies

Hey guys!  I want to apologize in advance for writing yet another top fives list, especially after that random one last week!  I think it’s because they’re very easy and fun to write, and give me time to think of topics to cover.  For example,  I am currently writing a post addressing some of Marvel’s controversial character changes, this post is really just to help fill in the gap.  Anyway, without further ado, here are my top five superhero movies.

5.Hellboy 2: The Golden Army

I love Guillermo del Toro’s style, and how it really brings this universe to life.  The detail is so intricate, and the movie looks so artistically unique.  Perhaps no comic book world has been brought to life with such vividness before.   Also, It’s a hilarious movie and the characters are just great.

4. Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight was an epic ending to one of the most epic movie trilogies ever.  This movie is filled to the brim with iconic imagery, fight scenes, and quotes.  Further more they actually managed to create a villain on par with the Joker, which I thought was impossible after Heath ledger’s performance.  Apparently this movie has been the subject of hate recently, but it continues to be one of my favorites regardless.

3. Avengers

What, the Avengers only at three? What the heck else must be on this list?!  Avengers is probably the coolest superhero film ever made.   It was the first ever big superhero team up movie, and it satisfied.  Simply seeing all those characters onscreen together is worth the watch.   This is the movie where we really discovered the payoff that Marvel’s cinematic universe could deliver.

2. Captain America: The Winter Solider

I’m going to be honest, I didn’t really care for the original Captain America movie.  I thought it was cheesy, formulaic, and the pacing was all over the place.  I didn’t really have the highest hopes for the sequel.   You can imagine my surprise after viewing it!  Not only did it become my favorite Marvel movie, it became my second favorite superhero movie of all time.  The story is great, the action is great, the characters are great, this movie is just great!

1. The Dark Knight

“Good evening ladies and gentlemen, we are tonight’s entertainment!”  You probably saw this one coming.  This film is just fantastic.  The performances alone were enough to earn this film it’s place in history.  Not only that, but the story is great as well, it is the ultimate battle of chaos vs. order.   Simply a phenomenal film.

So what do you think of my choices?  What are your top five? Let me know!
